On Saturday the 21st of February Broxbourne Sports Club provided an evening of world class squash for it's members and their guests. The evening, sponsored by Kirby Colletti, showcased the talents of former World number 41 Scott Handley and Essex champion, Rory Pennell. The members were also treated to exciting doubles matches with players from Broxbourne's first team, and a selected few club players had the chance to play Scott. After the squash everyone was treated to a delicious curry provided by the local Indian restaurant The Royal Bengal in Broxbourne and the guests participated in an auction and raffle with prizes kindly donated by Hanbury Manor Hotel, Minter Sports Massage, Geoff Taylor squash coach and Just Rackets sports equipment.
The resident squash coach, Geoff Taylor, who organised this event described the evening as "a great success, it was well attended, with tickets selling out prior to the event. Having these elite players at our club inspires juniors and encourages guests to get on court and give it a try. Without our sponsors Kirby Colletti, Andrew Maxwell Osteopath, F.M Suckling Ltd, Dw Walters Butchers and Lake John Fishery we would be unable to provide such a high level of squash every week."
The evening was in aid of raising money for Broxbourne's first team who are set to win the Hertfordshire squash league this year. For more information on squash coaching and events at Broxbourne Sports club contact Geoff Taylor,www.geofftaylorsquash.com.
